About the Slipcastings
These ceramic items are slip cast in red earthenware clay. Rodger makes a plaster mould from an original model by Christine which, depending on the complexity of the piece, can be anything from 3 to 12 sections. The clay is poured into the moulds and left to harden, then turned out and fettled, additional details being added at this stage if required. Each piece is individually painted with matt glazes and oxides.
